Depression and anxiety are the most difficult emotions and life experiences. Depression and anxiety often come in pairs. Our bodies were never designed for the sleep-deprived, poorly nourished, frenzied pace of twenty-first century life. Certain negative thought patterns, like guilt, pessimism, and low self-esteem are fuel for depression and can trigger anxiety. Our usual attempts to “think” our way out of a bad mood or just “snap out of it” lead us deeper into the downward spiral.
