The 90 Day P.U.S.H. Experience
It is a balance of not just physical strength but also mental strength.
When I started the 90 day PUSH challenge, I thought my journey would be filled with another weight loss strategy which I was so familiar with as I have done so many in the past with no long term success. Before the 90 day PUSH challenge, my diet included too much food and too much sugar, period. I was an emotional eater, especially when working long hours and in a fast paced working environment. Working with Joy, I learned that the key to lasting weight loss was to focus on a “lifestyle” approach rather than a diet. It is a balance of not just physical strength but also mental strength. I have learned to “eat to live” rather than “live to eat.” I am conscious of my food choices and the triggers. Looking and feeling good is not about what the scale shows. It is thinking beyond the scale – becoming healthier, feeling better, and staying that way.
I am so grateful that I can come to mat everyday at Tribalance. No matter how busy and stressful my day is, I look forward to my practice and leave physically relaxed and mentally at peace.
I started to smile. I stopped stressing. I stopped crying.
Ninety days ago I was not in a very good place in my life. I am a quite person so I keep most things to myself and stray away from asking for help even when I desperately need it. I joined this challenged to try and change my life. I wanted to be stronger, I wanted to be healthier, and let’s face it – I really wanted to lose weight. The program started off being extremely difficult for me. It was hard to motivate myself to make it in to yoga. It was difficult to cut certain indulgences out of my diet. But before I knew it, these things became a habit.I looked forward to the time on my mat. I truly loved the new food I was eating – and more importantly how it made me feel. I started to sleep. I started to smile. I stopped stressing. I stopped crying. The change took over my life in such a positive way I decided to up my challenge for myself to 6 days a week for work outs and making changes in my home life. I learned to surround myself with people who only lift me up rather then bring me down. I printed out affirmations to read to myself, but also gave them to others in hopes for them to see the beauty with in.
I am proud of myself for the muscle gained and the weight lost, but to my surprise that is not the change I am eager to share. I just feel better. I got a new pair of eyes to see this world with, and it truly is a beautiful place. This team of positive teachers and fellow PUSHers could change the universe – even if it’s only one person’s universe at a time. Thanks, Joy and the PUSH team, for your light.
I found that day-by-day and week-by-week I was healing.
Late September I happened to be in the area and noticed Tri Balance Yoga was having an open house event. So I checked it out. It was apparent this was a special place. A week later I signed up for the 90-Day PUSH and was in my very first yoga class on October 6.
On the day I started I was a physical mess. I was stiff from heavy bike riding and other sport related injuries, probably dehydrated; asthmatic and suffering chronic back issues. I was waking everyday hunched over, in pain and very much feeling old. ..Not good. ..
The first month proved to be physically challenging. My 4th day was a Saturday class with Joy. This was THE most challenging class of the entire 90 days. But it was an eye opener and I was motivated to improve. I found my focus and everything became easier after that first Saturday.
I found that day-by-day and week-by-week I was healing. During a November class I was in Childs Pose, Michael gave me an adjustment and my lower back suddenly- amazingly released and opened!! My back has been opening more and more ever since. Thank you Michael!!
By the end of December I am able to jump back to Plank and forth to Forward Fold. I can sit in Lotus with little or no discomfort. I feel stronger and more confident in most poses. I continue to improve and look forward to class.
Thank You Joy for bringing together so many positive people to participate in this program. I’ve enjoyed the different instructors, Dr K, and the Chinese Medicine Seminars. Acupuncture is in my future.
For me, the 90-PUSH has been a complete success. My life is now on a much healthier path.
I find that honestly journaling my food intake is quite revealing. Today I am mindful of my water intake and my diet has changed to mostly vegetarian.
My body has and is changing. I’ve lost about 15 lbs and 4 % body fat. I am stronger and more flexible. My back has its moments but is so much better. My asthma seems to have dissipated because I rarely use my inhaler. All…of my clothes are now loose on my body. Awesome!
