Joy Antipow - Lead teacher E-RYT® 500, YACEP®
Joy has always been into sports, fitness and health. She grew up playing every sport under the sun and got into bodybuilding in 1995. Joy was able to change a lot of things in her life physically, mentally and emotionally through having a stable fitness practice, but she still struggled with her self image, which was limiting her in many areas of her life.
She attended NIU, graduating with a degree in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. She started personal training and got into management in the nutrition, health and supplement industry.
Joy found yoga after a back injury back in 2001. But it wasn’t until she started a consistent practice that she really understood the benefits that yoga could offer. “Physically yoga has helped to heal my body, but there are not words to describe how much yoga has helped me to heal the relationship I have with myself. I think yoga helps to soften the view we have of ourselves and in turn helps to soften the view that we have of the world. Yoga has become such a strong positive force in my life and I feel it is my duty to share it with others.”

Jennifer Cowan
Physical Therapist Anatomy Guru • Yoga Teacher/Trainer
Yoga has played a significant role in my life since my undergraduate years. My time in class was how I stayed calm and focused during grad school, stayed healthy and centered during my first job, and explored who I was and who I wanted to be as I transitioned into adulthood. It was sitting on my mat with my mom before a yoga class that I verbalized my desire to teach yoga.
As a pediatric physical therapist, I knew the benefits I experienced on mat would help my patients but didn’t know anyone in the community to recommend. It occurred to me that my background in anatomy and movement was the perfect foundation to begin teaching kids yoga. I enrolled in Rainbow Kids yoga training and began teaching weekly kids yoga classes the next week. Over the past few years, I have loved teaching kids of all ages from preschool to teens in a variety of settings including the school, clinic, and private home sessions. I saw that I was growing as a therapist and as aa yoga teacher, but also knew that I wanted more knowledge for myself and to share with my students.
In the summer of 2016, I excitedly began the life changing journey they call yoga teacher training. Throughout the summer, I challenged myself to grow beyond my mat and was thrilled to teach my first adult class.
One year later, I was back at Tribalance teaching yoga anatomy to the next class of students. It combines my love of movement with my passion for yoga. I have taught anatomy to every YTT class since then and look forward to connecting with the students each year!
